Villa Bacalar |
|
Laguna Bacalar is the 2nd largest natural lake in Mexico, and is pristine with crystal clear tropical fresh water. Called "the lake of seven colors" by the ancient Maya, its colors range from various shades of green, to intense turquoise, to varying hues of blue. At sunset reflections of pinks, lavenders and oranges change the colors again.
Villa Bacalar is located in the a small town of Bacalar overlooking Laguna Bacalar. We are located in the southern most part of Quintana Roo, about 1/2 hour from the closest airport in the Caribbean port city of Chetumal and approximately the same distance from the border with Belize. It is about 3 1/2 - 4 hours south of Cancun. The town of Bacalar is pretty much untouched by tourism, although the archaeological sites and beach sites have begun to develop. |
